The world's first neuroinclusive books.

ReadAble Books translates classic children’s literature into autism-friendly language, allowing autistic children to immerse themselves in iconic stories, tales and worlds without being frustrated by language designed for neurotypical people.

Although ReadAble Books are designed for the specific linguistic needs of autistic readers, they can be enjoyed by many other neurodivergent readers, including those with Asperger’s, dyslexia and aphasia.

Created with world-leading linguistic experts.

Using a pioneering Figuration Gradation technique developed in partnership with Professors from the University of Cambridge and the University of Oxford, ReadAble Books translates over 50 types of figurative and implicit language which can be difficult for autistic readers to understand into literal and clarified meaning.

These include:

  • Metaphors

  • Similes

  • Idioms

  • Irony

  • Rhetorical Questions

  • Metonymy

  • Implicatures

  • Deixis

  • Homographs

A perfect reading level for every child.

Autism is a spectrum and every autistic child’s experience and reading needs are unique. So to meet everyone’s reading needs, each ReadAble Book is translated into three versions: Simpler, Literal and ReadAble. These are placed alongside the original text. Each version has a specific level of literal and clarified meaning.

Using The Slider, every child can effortlessly switch versions to find the reading level that suits them – without ever losing their place in the story.

Learn about each Translation Level by moving The Slider:
